STORIA:
«Tuo, guarda quanti sassi!»
«Ho capito. Questo non è l'alfabeto…»
Prese posto davanti ai sassi.
«…questo è RUBASASSI!»
🪨 GIOCHIAMO A RUBASASSI
OCCORRENTE
20 sassi
Adesso tocca agli altri indovinare.
Quindi attenzione a gridare troppo velocemente:
«È una Z!»
Perché poi bisognerà trovare…
Zebra… zaino… zanzara!
I SASSI DIVENTANO SEMPRE MENO!
I punti conquistati fino a quel momento naturalmente rimangono.
🏆 CHI VINCE?
English
MIA AND TUO PLAY “STEAL A STONE!”
Mia and Tuo were walking along the beach when Mia suddenly stopped.
“Tuo, look at all these stones!”
Tuo picked up one, then another, and another.
“Let’s collect twenty!” he said.
Soon, they had a lovely pile of stones in all shapes, sizes and colours.
Mia picked up three and carefully placed them on the sand.
“What are you doing?” Tuo asked.
“Making a letter.”
Tuo stared at the three stones.
“A letter? With only three stones?”
“For now!” Mia giggled. “You have to guess which letter I’m making!”
Tuo thought hard.
Mia smiled.
“But be careful! Guessing the letter isn’t enough to win.”
“What else do I have to do?”
“You have to quickly say three words beginning with that letter. Only then can you steal one of the stones!”
Tuo looked at the pile.
Then he looked at Mia.
“I get it. This isn’t just an alphabet game…”
He sat down in front of the stones.
“…this is STEAL A STONE!”
LET’S PLAY STEAL A STONE!
A simple beach game that needs almost nothing: just 20 stones, a little imagination and lots of words!
WHAT YOU NEED
🪨 20 stones or pebbles
👧👦 2 or more players
🏖️ A small space on the sand
HOW TO PLAY
First, collect 20 stones and place them in a pile.
The first player secretly chooses a letter of the alphabet.
Without saying which letter it is, the player takes 3 stones and begins making the shape of the letter on the sand.
Now everyone else has to guess!
Starting with the youngest player, everyone gets one guess.
NOBODY GUESSED IT?
Add one more stone to the letter.
Then everyone gets another chance to guess.
Still no luck?
Add another stone.
Keep going, adding one stone at a time, until somebody recognises the letter.
🎯 YOU GUESSED THE LETTER… BUT YOU HAVEN’T WON YET!
The player who guesses correctly now has another challenge.
They must quickly say 3 words beginning with that letter.
For example, if the letter is B:
BEAR – BEACH – BALL!
Did they manage it?
Great! They can take one stone from the pile.
That stone is theirs to keep and is worth 1 point.
The player who won the stone now gets to choose and build the next letter.
WHAT IF YOU GUESS THE LETTER BUT CAN’T THINK OF 3 WORDS?
No stone for you!
The chance to name three words passes to the next player.
So think carefully before shouting:
“It’s X!”
Because then you’ll need…
X-ray… xylophone… erm… HELP!
THE PILE KEEPS GETTING SMALLER!
Here’s what makes Steal a Stone especially fun.
Every time somebody wins a point, they actually take one of the 20 stones away from the pile.
So as the game continues, fewer and fewer stones are available, making it harder to build new letters.
If there aren’t enough stones left to make the letters properly, simply collect or put 20 stones in the middle again and continue playing.
Everyone keeps the points they have already earned.
WHO WINS?
Before you start, you can decide when the game will end: after a certain number of letters, after 15 or 20 minutes or simply… when it’s time for a swim!
At the end, everyone counts the stones they have won.
The player with the most stones is the STEAL A STONE CHAMPION!
MIA AND TUO’S GAME VARIATIONS
For younger children, make things easier: after guessing the letter, they only need to think of one word beginning with it.
For older children, turn up the challenge: they have to say 3 words in 10 seconds!
Want an even trickier version?
Choose a category before each round. Players might have to name three animals, three foods, three names or three objects beginning with the mystery letter.
Twenty little stones can lead to a different game every time.
Have fun with Mia and Tuo… and may the best stone thief win!
