All’improvviso sentì una risata.
«Spruzzo! Guarda lassù!»
Erano Mia e Tuo.
Vicino a lui c’erano Mia, Tuo e Ignazio.

Dipingi come Chagall
Poi ricorda queste regole…

English (under the story)
After spending the whole day painting, Spruzzo put away his brushes, closed his box of paints, and sat beneath the great willow tree by Wonder Lake.”Today I painted so many flowers…” he yawned. “I think I need a little nap.”
As soon as he closed his eyes, a gentle breeze began to blow through the trees. When he opened them again…
Wonder Forest had completely changed.
The sky was no longer above him.
It surrounded him everywhere.
Brightly colored fish were swimming among the clouds, a purple cow was flying over the lake while playing a violin, and tiny colorful houses floated through the air like balloons.
“Am… am I still dreaming?” Spruzzo asked as he looked around in amazement.
Suddenly, he heard laughter.
“Spruzzo! Look up there!”
It was Mia and Tuo.
The two little polar bears were gently floating through the sky, holding paws.
A little higher above them was Ignazio, happily waving to everyone with his long light-blue scarf fluttering in the wind.
“Come on!” he called.
“Up here there is no gravity… only imagination!”
Spruzzo took one step forward and, to his great surprise, he began to float as well.
It felt as if he were swimming through the air.
As they admired that wonderful world, a painter with a kind smile and a palette full of colors appeared before them.
“Welcome to my dream.”
“My name is Marc Chagall.”
“In my paintings, I don’t simply paint what I see… I paint what I feel in my heart.”
Spruzzo gazed at the star-filled sky.
“So animals really can fly?”
Chagall smiled.
“In dreams, everything is possible.”
“Imagination has no rules.”
Mia pointed to a bright blue fish slowly swimming across the sky.
“Then I can imagine an elephant with wings?”
“Of course.”
“And a giraffe walking on the moon?” asked Tuo.
“That too.”
Ignazio laughed.
“And a polar bear flying over Wonder Forest?”
“I’m already seeing one!” Chagall replied.
Spruzzo picked up his paintbrush.
With a single stroke, glowing flowers appeared, colorful stars sparkled into the sky, and butterflies left tiny rainbow trails as they fluttered through the air.
The more he painted…
the more magical the dream became.
When the sun began to rise, the entire sky filled with golden light.
Spruzzo slowly opened his eyes.
He was once again beneath the great willow tree.
Beside him were Mia, Tuo, and Ignazio.
“Did you have a nice dream?” Mia asked.
Spruzzo smiled as he held his paintbrush.
“Yes… and I learned something very important.”
“Art isn’t just about copying reality.”
“It’s about giving color to our dreams.”
From that day on, whenever Spruzzo picked up a paintbrush, he remembered his journey into Chagall’s world…
where fish swam across the sky, polar bears floated among the clouds, and imagination never came to an end.
Paint Like Chagall
In the world of dreams, anything is possible!
Before you begin, close your eyes for a few seconds and imagine a dream.
Look at this picture, color it like the example and add your own details, or create a completely new drawing. You can cut out the cow, the elephant, or both and use them in your artwork.
Then remember these rules…
Animals can do impossible things.
Colors don’t have to be realistic.
A tree can be blue, a house can be purple, the sky can be green, or the sun can be pink.
People can fly.
They can float among the clouds, soar above the forest, or sit on the moon.
Houses can look like they came from a fairy tale.
Colorful roofs, round windows, crooked towers, and villages floating among the clouds.
Fill the sky with magic.
Stars, smiling moons, flying flowers, musical notes, and little fish swimming through the clouds.
The most important rule…
There are no mistakes.
If something comes from your imagination… then it’s already a work of art!
For even more fun..
Try Spruzzo’s Challenge!
Glue your picture onto an A3 sheet of paper and add everything that’s missing. Or, as suggested above, create your own drawing and use only a few details from the picture provided.
